| "I am Terri. I work part-time as a Registered Nurse in a Family Practice Clinic. I am fifty-two years old and proud of almost every year I spent to get here. I have raised two children and am still working on three pseudo children. I have led an adventuresome, sometimes tumultuous life, have traveled widely, lived in numerous states and taken many paths less traveled. I am now very boring to everyone except other dog aficionados (and probably even them). Unfortunately my father died before witnessing the truly boring person I really was. He once asked me if my goal in life was to collect as many experiences as possible and I thought the question rhetorical and didn't bother answering. I've always been an animal lover. I believed in Dr Doolitttle as earnestly as Santa Claus. At one point in time I had parakeets, a cat ( assorted kittens), a fish tank and a guinea pig in my bedroom and a duck in my closet (until it grew up). Much of my adult life I was a "cat person" which was probably due to my life-style. Then, about 9 years ago I had to decide; did I want to go to Physician Assistant School or get two dogs? My husband thought I should do the former, I opted for the latter. My children were gone, there were (and still aren't) any grandchildren forthcoming and I needed to provide some serious nurturing!. And thus began my obsession, passion, and devotion to the breed of the Coton de Tulear! Those of you who have a Coton will know what I mean when I say they changed my life! Yes, it's true, they made me the boring person I am today. All that I do is for, about or with them. Then there's my husband, Chris. Since I didn't go to PA School, he decided to go. He graduated four years ago and now works every evening and week-end while I work week-days. His family is still appalled that he sleeps with four dogs! He grew up in a large family sans pets, particularly those that required any kind of notice or attention whatsoever. When we first met I had two cats and a parrot. He found out very quickly the level of importance animals played in my life. I must have been more interesting then because he married me anyway. Now he just doesn't know how he ever lived without dogs in his life. (Right Chris?) |
